Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are great for strolling around the neighborhood or jogging. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver even in tight spots.
For a smooth ride, opt for a pram fitted with air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with 360deg front swivel wheels. They are prone, however to punctures. Be prepared with a repair set.
Frame made of sturdy material
Figures have just been released revealing that the three-wheeled buggy - that noughties symbol of more money than sense is on the verge of disappearing. They are being replaced by four-wheelers which can handle a wider range of terrain, yet still look swanky and being easy to push.
The bigger the wheels are, the better your buggy can deal with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front allow you to maneuver and more stable when walking downhill or in difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested the buggy with a newborn and 3 year old and found that it was able to withstand cobbles, grass rough roads, dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it is solid to push and extremely solid when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require periodic pumping) come with suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my children.
Another thing to take into consideration is the size of the seat and shape. You'll want it to be big enough for your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline for them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with the option of lying flat that allows the child to face you, while other buggies only permit a parent-facing option.
A great choice for tackling off-road and muddy trails is the Roma Atlas. It can be used as a one-person unit from birth, and then expands to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for babies and toddlers up to age 4 and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, an improved 5-point harness and large cushioned seat unit. The storage options are good too, with a decent-sized basket, zip pockets inside the hood, and an attractive pouch at the rear of the seat unit.
Wheels with a greater diameter
Larger wheels mean your buggy will be more stable on rough terrain - perfect for off-road buggies. Additionally, they help you maneuver the buggy through tight spaces. A lot of three-wheeled buggies come with the front wheels that swivel to assist you in maneuvering around corners with ease, whereas others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This is also useful if you hit the kerb or a tree. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to avoid hitting it.
A lot of 3 wheel pushchairs have air-filled tyres. This means they can be used on different terrains and are much more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They are also lighter. They are more prone to punctures, so you will require repair kits and an spare inner tubes on hand.
3 wheeler pushchairs , Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are among our favorite 3-wheelers. Both of these buggies have larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles" and can easily go up and down kerbs. They also come with a suspension system that, in her words "smoothes out bumps very effectively".
Buggies with larger wheels can be quite wide and they may be a challenge to fit in tight spaces. This is problematic if you intend to use it for jogging, or need to fit through doorways that are narrow when traveling. Fortunately, the majority of models come with small folding options that let you remove the front wheels to create more compact storage.
Easy to maneuver
A three-wheeler can be easier to maneuver with a child. The way in which they are constructed means that the front wheels rotate at a quick pace and are extremely easy to manoeuvre and are ideal for tricky terrain such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried the 3-wheeler with her toddler. she reported: "The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was especially helpful." I was also impressed by the way it handled bumps, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. I found it extremely steady when I was driving downhill or over uneven ground."
The only drawback of this amazing mobility is that the 3 wheel buggy's larger wheels sometimes mean it has to struggle in tight spaces, something to consider especially if you live in a city area. If this is an issue, a 4-wheel buggy might be better for you.

It provides the lowest centre of gravity at the appropriate height for your infant and also delivering an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it requires less effort to push the buggy over and up a curb than you might think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's ideal on cobbles and grass. It's also a great alternative for running, thanks to its air-filled tyres and the lockable swivel wheel.

Kath the MFM reviewer, also adored the spaciousness of this buggy. There's a big easy-to-access basket that's huge for a buggy this small as well as an easy-to-use pouch that zips up at the back of the seat unit, and even 2 smaller mesh pockets under the hood to store your keys and phone.
